Single-Day Field Biologists Camp (Ages 10-13)

Tuesday
Ages 10-13 as of the day of camp
8 am - 1 pm
Open to 6 kids
$119
Field Biologists Camp is a hands-on outdoor program for curious kids who want to experience wildlife the way real scientists do. Campers spend the morning exploring local habitats in search of reptiles and amphibians living in the wild.
Each week, we meet at carefully chosen trailheads or natural areas that give us the best chance to encounter snakes, lizards, frogs, salamanders, and the ecosystems they depend on. Most locations are within two miles of My Nature Lab, though we may occasionally meet at other nearby Open Space properties to take advantage of seasonal conditions or special wildlife opportunities.
Campers learn field skills such as observation, safe animal handling when appropriate, habitat assessment, data recording, and ethical wildlife practices, all while hiking, flipping rocks, walking creeks, and exploring with purpose. This camp is ideal for kids who love being outdoors, getting a little muddy, and learning through real-world experiences.

Field Biologists Overnight Camps
Field Biologists Overnight Camp - Arkansas ($2299)
June 7-12
Ages 14 and up as of the first day of camp
The Overnight Field Camp - Arkansas is a multi-day, high school–level field adventure exploring some of the best habitats in Oklahoma and Arkansas. Campers will learn real field techniques—road cruising, night hiking, creek walking, and species identification—while camping in state parks and traveling by van through prime wildlife areas. A highlight of the trip is a full day in the field with Dr. J.D. Willson and students from the University of Arkansas Herpetology Lab, where campers participate in active research and see how conservation science works in the real world. This camp is designed for curious, motivated teens who want hands-on science, late nights, and unforgettable wildlife experiences.
Field Biologists Overnight Camp - Nebraska ($1599)
June 22-25
Ages 12 and up as of the first day of camp
Join us for a four-day overnight adventure that blends travel, field biology, and hands-on wildlife exploration across northeastern Colorado and southwestern Nebraska. We’ll begin at My Nature Lab, then spend two nights camping at Enders Reservoir, searching shoreline, prairie, and backroad habitats for reptiles and amphibians by day and night. The trip includes herping along the South Platte River, learning to read habitats and animal signs, and a dedicated evening targeting invasive American bullfrogs while discussing their ecological impacts. This immersive camp emphasizes ethical field techniques, species identification, and experiencing wildlife where it actually lives—after dark, in the field, and up close.
