School Programs

Pre-K and Elementary

All in-school visits and field trips to My Nature Lab feature hands-on lessons with live reptiles and amphibians, supporting and enriching the Colorado state life science standards. Our experienced educators will work with you to create a unique program tailored to your students’ needs and interests. Along with facilitating the discovery of life science, our Pre-K and Elementary programs focus on helping students develop deep, meaningful, and personal connections to the natural world necessary to developing a lifelong love for learning and dedication to the environment.

Let My Nature Lab come to you! Our outreach programs include an interactive and engaging lesson facilitated by a My Nature Lab educator. All programs feature hands-on explorations with live animals. All lessons support and enrich the Colorado state life science standards.

Our programs are available as single-day events or multi-week, in-depth explorations of reptiles and amphibians. Scholarships may be available to help reduce the cost of these programs. 

Logistics

Duration: 45 minutes


Group Size: Up to 30 participants/program (includes students and adults); additional participants require booking additional programs


Pricing: $150 per 45 minute program, sequential programs discounted 25%. All in-school programs incur a travel fee of $0.66/mile round trip between your site and My Nature Lab. Scholarship funding may be available.

Bring your class, camp, daycare, or other youth group to My Nature Lab for a private field trip! Field trips to My Nature Lab include time to explore our facility and observe our numerous amphibians and reptiles in their enclosures before settling in with a My Nature Lab educator for interactive and engaging lessons featuring hands-on explorations with our live animals. All lessons support and enrich the Colorado state life science standards. 

Our programs are available as single-day events or multi-week, in-depth explorations of reptiles and amphibians. Scholarships may be available to help reduce the cost of these programs. 

Logistics

Offered: September – May on Tuesdays only; classes at 9:00, 10:30, 12:30 


Duration: 90 minutes (includes 60 minutes of hands-on lessons with our live amphibians and reptiles) 


Group Size: Up to 40 total participants (students + adults)


Prices: 
Students: $380 for up to 30 students; $10/additional student Adults: 1 free adult/10 students, additional adults at regular admission price ($15/adult)

Our preschool programs are tailored to meet the needs of young students. Scholarships may be available to help reduce the cost of these programs.

Duration: 30 minutes (minimum of two programs)


Group Size: Up to 30 participants/program (includes students and adults); additional participants require booking additional programs


Pricing: $175 for two 30-minute programs, sequential programs $75. All in-school programs incur a travel fee of $0.66/mile round trip between your site and My Nature Lab. Scholarship funding may be available.

Life Cycles

In this lesson, students will meet a variety of live amphibians and reptiles and compare and contrast the life cycles of each, noting some of the many adaptations (structural, physiological, and/or behavioral characteristics) that support survival at each stage of the life cycle. 

Adaptations

In this lesson, students will compare and contrast a variety of live amphibians and reptiles from all over the world and discuss the many adaptations (structural, physiological, and/or behavioral characteristics) that support their survival in their native ecosystems. 

Local Species

In this lesson, students will encounter a variety of live amphibians and reptiles found in Boulder County, Colorado (and surrounding counties). Emphasis will be on identification and natural history of each species, as well as how to safely encounter these animals in nature.
